Frequently Asked Questions

1. Racing Sponsorship

Q: I am trying to get sponsorship for my motorcycle racing career. Will Suzuki support me?

A: Suzuki is proud of it’s ongoing commitment to supporting up-and-coming motorcycle racers. Again in 2008 we are running the ‘Suzuki Support Rider’ program which supports many racers at state and national championship levels for road racing, motocross and Supercross events. For further information or application forms please go to the‘Suzuki Support Rider’ program

2. Ethanol Issue

Q: Can I use Ethanol blend fuels in my Suzuki Motorcycle?

A: Ethanol has a number of important chemical and physical properties that need to be considered. Firstly, ethanol has an affinity to water that may result in corrosion of fuel system components. Water in the fuel supply may result in poor engine performance and any corrosion could ultimately render the engine inoperable. Vehicles with carburetor fuel systems may suffer hot fuel handling concerns if the base fuel is not chemically adjusted when blended and the probability of vapor lock or hot restart problems will increase as a consequence. Even though newer Suzukis are engineered to reasonably tolerate use of ethanol blended fuels as may be outlined in the Owner’s Manual, because it may potentially impact the proper performance of your motorcycle, Suzuki Australia does not recommend its use.

3. New & Used Motorcycle Imports

Q: Can I import my Suzuki motorcycle to Australia from another country?

A: Overseas models are usually built to different specifications to those required for the Australian market. Do not assume that a motorcycle that seems to be identical to a model already available in Australia meets the required Australian Design Rules (ADRs). Generally, only vehicles that have been built specifically for the Australian market comply with all of the required ADRs. An import approval must be obtained from the Commonwealth Government Department of Transport and Regional Services to receive a new or used motorcycle at port in Australia. Refer to the Department’s website and click on the link for "Importing Vehicles". Suzuki Australia may only assist with issue of any required documents if the motorcycle is known to meet all the applicable ADR’s at the time that it is received at port.
